I’m a graduate in computer game production & design, originally hailing from the region of England lovingly known as “the north.” I now live in the United States, where I work on designing, developing and writing about games.
Who are you?
I am Ikono Farlight and I have been passionate about the design and development of games for much of my life, learning my first programming language before my age was even in double digits with the intent of building my own games.
I studied computer science at college, and then pursued a Bachelor’s in computer game production & design. Since graduating from university I have spent my time working on my own game design projects, and also work as the editor-in-chief and community manager of the Extra Credits website.
I also occasionally write about video games and the culture surrounding them. My experience as a transgender woman in the gaming space has coloured my perspective greatly, and I feel such dialogue is of great importance to the industry as we move forward. I try to bring those personal life experiences and feelings into my writing, and into the design of my games.
Why BunIKO?
BunIKO is the name I opt to use when working on games of my own design. It’s a collective name which my partner and I came up with many years ago, with the intention of using it for any joint ventures we ever attempted. Cut to the present and my partner has been the biggest proponent of my work thus far, and someone whom I often bounce ideas back and forth with, so I wanted to include her as a prominent part of any games I may release myself. Thus I decided to use the name “BunIKO” for this website.
